What the Install Actually Involves

Water Supply Connection

Older Kitchens Need a Different Plan
Plenty of kitchens around town were never designed with a dishwasher in mind. Cottages from the early Excelsior subdivision decades near the foreshore often still run corroded galvanised supply lines, and those pipes restrict flow before it ever reaches a new appliance.
Connecting a modern dishwasher to a line like that without checking it first is how people end up with a machine that fills slowly and a bill they did not expect.
The drainage side matters just as much. Homes from the town's earliest decades frequently drain through old earthenware and clay lines, and a waste connection bolted onto a tired trap just moves the blockage one step closer to the machine. We look at what the water has to travel through before we connect anything to it.
If the supply or drain needs work first, you hear about it in the quote, not after the fact. Post-war brick-veneer homes and the newer units near the shops are usually simpler: copper supply, modern traps and a straightforward cupboard space. Either way, the checks happen before the connection, not after the leak.
